Continuous coil paint line, Nigeria

Problem

A large steel company in Nigeria operate several old technology, dry flux galvanizing lines. They needed to upgrade their production capacity and product quality significantly.

Solution

In 2002, Bronx installed their high speed ‘Roofer’ galvanizing line. Since installation, the line has operated 24 hours per day, 7 days per week at main speed (120 m/min), producing a high quality galvanized product on strip thickness as low as 0.15 mm.

In November 2003, Bronx commissioned a new Continuous Coil Paint Line in the same factory. This line can produce any combination of colours, runs at 65 m/min and is based on simple operating technology and procedures, understanding the technological and engineering limitations of Nigeria. The product quality is excellent and the Paint line project has been an outstanding success for both Bronx and the Nigerian customer.

Result

The customer can now complete their backlog of orders and anticipate that a second Paint line will be required in the near future.
