Roll coater machine upgrade for resin coating, Kenya

Problem

A prominent steel company in Kenya operates a dual metal coating line that can produce galvanized and zinc/aluminium coated products. A resin based passivation chemical is applied to the strip for corrosion protection. The resin is applied by a spray and squeegee roll system that unfortunately cannot ensure an accurate and consistent chemical coating right across the strip width all the time, resulting in customer complaints.

Solution

Bronx International provided an S Wrap roll coater machine to apply the resin coating to replace the spray and squeegee system. The coater machine is complete with a dual stainless steel mixing tank system.

Result

The coater machine applied the solution evenly across the strip width to the correct specification. Chemical analysis confirmed the correct coating weights across various coils produced. The roll coater system produces no effluent, thus maximising chemical usage. An end use customer inspected the roll coater in operation and was pleased with the resultant resin coated strip.
