'Stop - start' paint line upgrade, Nigeria

Problem

Following the development of the local coil coated market using a Bronx Satellite 'Stop - Start' paint line, the company were looking to increase output to meet growing local demand. Factory space was limited and the customer requested that the upgrade did not impact on the existing building and equipment foundations.

Solution

Bronx International provided an innovative continuous paint line upgrade using compact horizontal entry and exit accumulators located above the existing line. These were designed in conjunction with tension bridles and steering systems to provide excellent tension control and strip tracking in continuous operation. A second decoiling section was also added to provide more operational flexibility and time in the entry section for coil changes and strip joining.

Result

The upgrade was made without having to stop production. The line is now capable of painting in fully continuous operation, providing a significant increase production and reducing material loss associated with 'stop - start' operation. The customer was extremely pleased with production benefits provided by the upgrade and the use of a compact design meaning that the higher capacity line could still be housed in their existing building.
