The big bang in Slovakia

Recently, Bronx International in conjunction with our customer Kovozink S.A Slovakia played host to what we have sanctioned as The Big Bang here in Slovakia.

Bronx International is the supplier to Kovozink of their Modified Wet Flux Technology Galvanizing Line in Dobsina Slovakia. Dobsina is surrounded by hills and national forest and is approximately 1 ½ hours from the 2nd largest city here is Slovakia called Kosice.

What was The Big Bang…it was the demolition of one of the tallest chimneys here in the area which stood a majestic 110 meters tall  before its demise . The chimney was a land mark in the area supplying energy as part of a power station to the local region.

However, the structure was standing in the way of the building development for the project ordered from Bronx  International and thus had to be removed.

For such an event Bronx International and Kovozink invited a host of dignitaries to the day and it was highlighted by the attendance of the Australian Ambassador to Austria Mr Peter Shannon (also responsible for Slovakia) who had the enviable task of turning the switch that brought the chimney to its end.

Gathered for the days' events along with the Australian Ambassador were Mayor’s of 2 regions and Senior Government officials.

In all, an invited gathering of over 400 people attended the day including 3 television stations and 3 news papers.

The attendance was not limited to just these few as the day also drew people from around the region that totalled in their thousands to witness the day’s events from various locations around the surrounding hills.

The Australian Ambassador turned the switch at approximately 1.15pm on the day and the chimney fell gracefully to the ground as though it knew the end was near. The land mark in the area was no more visible in the skyline and a new wave of technology was entering the country…BRONX  INTERNATIONAL TECHNOLOGY….

Bronx was most grateful to The Ambassador for taking the time to visit Dobsina and take part in this very important event.

Bronx is the successful supplier of their Modified Wet Flux Technology Galvanizing Line to Kovozink and the first for the EU community.

This project will not only signify the entry of Bronx into the EU market but more importantly it will bring new technology and new employment opportunities to the region.

For Kovozink who was until now a steel service centre this project takes them into a whole new area of manufacturing and technology  that will see them a major player in Galvanizing in the country and indeed a major player in Galvanizing Technology in Slovakia and in The EU community.

For Bronx THE BIG BANG marked the official entry into the European Community as a supplier of Galvanizing and Paint Line Technology.
