Bronx completes two slitting line upgrades in Australia

Bronx International has recently completed two “Turnkey” projects for a prominent Steel Company in Australia. The contract entailed significant upgrades to Steel Service Centre Slitting line operations in South Australia & Victoria.

The South Australian Slitting Line was upgraded to include a new scrap chopper to effectively and safely manage edge scrap waste. Together with a new scrap conveyor, installed below floor level, the system provides a safe, efficient and cost effective means of handling trimmed edge scrap material.

The Victorian Slitting Line upgrade includes a new recoiler, edge guide control system, dividing shear, threading table and innovative slitter tooling rig. This upgrade provides increased speed, tension and accuracy of the slitting function, which in turn, provides improved safety and productivity. In particular, the tooling rig has been designed to improve ergonomics, whilst increasing efficiency and safety in changing the slitter tooling.

These upgrades were completed on time and on budget, to the complete satisfaction of the customer whilst maintaining the safety of all personnel in accordance with the relevant OH&S requirements.
